How Many Service Providers???
There are now more than 550, 000 participants and over 17, 925 Registered providers and possibly just as many Independent providers? In addition there are over 3,000 approved aged care providers, managing around 9,000-9,300 services, in Australia.
As a carer with lived experiences and having worked in disability and aged care sector for more than 17 years, I have found it most daunting when trying to find “the most suitable providers”, and constantly thinking where to start.
The NDIS website has only registered providers listed but the other 40% (and increasing) of providers are independent providers.
“How and where do I find the NDIS independent providers?”
“How and where do I find Support workers for Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) or Packaged Care?"
“I wanted providers in my local neighbourhood who actually have capacity to support me!”
“I want to maximise my service hours with my funding!”
“I constantly having to repeat my story and repeat the details of the service I wanted over the phone or having to send multiple emails when looking for available providers.”
